History of Engaged Encounter Canada

Catholic Engaged Encounter (known as "CEE") is
an International organization. The first weekend was given in
1969 in Detroit and followed the model of Marriage Encounter. It
quickly spread throughout the US. The first outline was
developed in 1975 . The first EE weekend was given in Winnipeg
in 1976, Toronto and Windsor in 1977, Edmonton in 1979, and
London and Niagara Falls in 1980.and on to Europe, Africa, South
America, and Asia. EE is part of an international family of
couples committed to lasting friendships in marriage. The United
and Anglican churches have their own expression of EE. CEE has grown since its founding from a few dozen married couples and priests to several thousand volunteers working within the CEE ministry, ministering to the engaged. The presenting couples come from every walk of life, young and old, from the highly trained professional to the skilled labourer, but these CEE couples all have one thing in common; they believe in the sacrament of marriage and the commitment they made on their wedding day to make Christ's love known to all people through the love they have for one another." |
